Job Description:
This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, National Archives and Records Administration. As a/an ARCHIVIST, you will carry out complex professional assignments involving delivery of advisory services to Federal agencies, development and application of records schedules, and the accessioning and processing of records among other duties.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning of programs leading to the identification and protection of permanently valuable records.
- Plan and coordinate activities leading to the identification of records eligible for transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration.
- Recognize the complexity associated with applicability of multiple restrictions and recommends appropriate steps to address such complexity.
- Contribute significantly to the planning of a finding aids program that facilitates discovery and use of a complex body of records.
- Develop and deliver responses (orally or in writing) to non-routine reference requests that draw upon a broad knowledge of records, involve multiple sources of information, employ innovative research techniques, or require interpretation of complex rules or procedures.
Job Requirements:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience utilizing various systems or databases to locate, analyze, index, and manage archival records. AND
- Experience collaborating and participating in projects describing or preserving a body of records. AND
- Experience executing communication strategies, plans, or activities.
