Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead classroom programs and implement camp curriculum in an effective and timely manner.
  • Handle animal ambassadors in park and at events while educating and interacting with guests
  • Facilitation of education programs in one or more of following areas: field trips, outreaches, tours, programs, park presentations, sleepovers, camps
  • Use the General Reservation system to book and sell education programs
  • Research animal information for curriculum, blogs and graphics
  • Participate in coordination of day-to-day operations of education programs, including activity materials and equipment set-up and breakdown, classroom set-up and breakdown, and advanced preparation
  • Assist in the training, development and evaluation of part time staff
  • Serve as a positive role model for program participants, including children, by adhering to company standards on wardrobe, conduct, safety, cleanliness, and timeliness at all times
  • Represent Education department at park and community events, promoting education programs- to include camp fairs, school presentations, expos and other events as needed
  • Provide in-depth park and animal information and interpret animal exhibits.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Ability to work individually and/or within a team.
  • Must have excellent presentation, networking and oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in sales/program promotions, revenue generation or marketing/sales a plus
  • Ability to provide outstanding guest service
  • 2 years previous related experience with education programs and/or working with children and varied audiences preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs
  • Willingness to work with a variety of animal species: birds, reptiles, mammals, and invertebrates
