Job Description:

The incumbent typically is required to perform psychologically stressful and/or physically demanding duties consistent with firefighting, disaster response, and emergency medical response, including working in isolated areas, walking or running on uneven, rough terrain, and remaining on duty 24 hours or longer without a break while performing these duties

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position will maintain a high-level of collaboration with external entities in support of program goals. Serve as Program Manager and Co-Lead of CAL FIRE’s Intel: FIRIS Statewide Program. Direct the FIRIS implementation effort in conjunction with the CalOES counterpart.
  • Collaborate with other Fire Protection programs, Management Services, Incident Management teams, and other external organizational bodies. *Represent Region interests in FIRIS enhancements, policies, procedures, and other issues to CAL FIRE’s Executive Team, CalOES, and other external stakeholders, up to and including the Governor’s Office.
  • Review and approve proposed policy and procedure revisions and updates prior to routing for executive approval as needed.
  • Under the supervision of the Deptuy Chief of Operations (Assistant Chief with differential), in coordination with the Deputy Chief Fire Intel Program the incumbent shall perform the following duties:
  • Recommend, develop, and implement programs, policies, and procedures intended to advance and maintain Program expertise within the Department. Coordinate department program with federal predictive services programs. Ensure program compliance with federal and state laws.

Job Requirements:

  • The Chief series describes work concerned primarily with an integrated program of multipurpose forestry and fire protection activities including response to emergencies of all types and protection of the State’s natural resources.
  • Levels within the series perform fire protection and/or emergency response program management functions at headquarters, regions, units, and conservation camps. Program management includes planning, development, and administration of the Department’s programs..
