Job Description:

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Job Responsibilities:

SOS is responsible for maintaining the computer-based security system infrastructure and for the input and maintenance of databases on the Capitol Complex. The Section ensures that data concerning alarm systems, access control devices and camera systems are current and that the data remain current during upgrades. SOS ensures the integrity of the databases of the alarm, access control and camera systems in the Capitol Complex. The Section coordinates with the Architect of the Capitol, Members and staffs, USCP administrative personnel and security custodians to facilitate access to secured areas, and retrieves reviews and archives selected videos for law enforcement purposes. This is a developmental position. The incumbent performs assignments designed to provide experience in the full range of systems, software, and equipment associated with security protocols used throughout the Capitol Complex. Maintains and monitors the software programs for the complex alarm, access control and camera systems that are an integral part of computer-based electronic security systems used to supplement security, access to, and protection of Members of Congress, their staff, and visitors to the Capitol Complex

Job Requirements:

All eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.CP-08/GS-10 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-07/GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as monitoring the use of networks; adjusting configurations, designing, and implementing logical system enhancements; planning and coordinating the maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers; monitoring the performance of all types of electronic and physical security systems to ensure optimum performance
