Job Description:
This class is designed to be used in a California Highway Patrol area office or substation with nine or fewer patrol cars or to assist an Automotive Technician in a larger area office. Incumbents will be assigned a combination of duties in automotive maintenance and records, office janitorial work, and outside grounds maintenance as required by the job.
Job Responsibilities:
Incumbent shall complete all necessary janitorial duties ensuring the cleanliness of the facility. Sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, operating scrubbers, buffers, and waxers. Cleaning, dusting, and polishing cabinets, furniture and woodwork, interior windows, and replace light bulbs and tubes. Cleaning restrooms, sinks, toilets and urinals, replenishing lavatory supply dispensers. Assist in moving and arranging furniture, supplies and equipment as necessary. Cleaning, stocking and maintaining storage rooms, maintain employee break room/kitchen; ensuring the cleanliness of the stove, refrigerator, tables, etc. Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance. Cleaning painted surfaces and exterior windows Removing oil, dirt, and nonhazardous spills from facility grounds, walkways, and parking areas. Emptying and cleaning waste and ashtray receptacles. Weeding and maintaining planters, removing debris from the parking lot and planter areas, as well as the facility perimeter. Assist the Area Automotive Technician in maintaining vehicles assigned to the facility. Maintaining records of vehicle mileage and coordinating or providing required maintenance. Keep interior and exterior of vehicles clean and stocking an adequate supply of flares, plastic blankets, first aid supplies and other necessary equipment.Perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested
Job Requirements:
- One year of experience performing the duties of a Janitor in a California Highway Patrol area office or substation, including some experience in the maintenance and servicing of patrol vehicles.
- Servicing automobiles, in another type of vehicle repair facility including the removal and replacement of tires, batteries, and accessories.
- One year of experience in one or a combination of the following: (In appraising experience, emphasis will be placed upon its recency and breadth.)
- Working in a shop of an automotive agency or garage. or
- Possession of a driver license valid for the operation of any two- axle single motor vehicle and one towed vehicle (i.e., a trailer with a gross weight of 6,000 pounds or less). and Either I One year of experience in the
- California state service performing the duties of a Service Assistant (Automotive)..
