Job Description:

You will perform as a small engine mechanic for the Motor Pool. Performing preventative and routine maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions, determining needed repairs, and testing the variety of small gasoline engines, diesel engines and other equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Keeping all equipment (lawn mowers, chain saws, snow blowers, insecticides and point sprayers, sidewalk edgers, trimmers etc.) in good operating condition by performing scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Checking and keeping all self-propelled powered small engine equipment mechanical moving parts in proper working order by preventive maintenance service inspections and adjustments.
  • Diagnosing and testing to determine needed repairs, and implementing proper solutions to malfunctions of equipment and engines.
  • Maintaining an inventory of spare parts for all small engine equipment.
  • Assisting in snow removal operations of all roads and walkways; clearing and salting sidewalks, stairs, etc and roadways; shoveling as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT)
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Use of Measuring Instruments
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc (includes blueprint reading)
  • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Troubleshooting
