Job Description:

This position is located in DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, District Eleven, Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach, Inspection Division, San Pedro, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing strategies and implementing enforcement posture.
  • Serving as chairman of various vessel inspector qualifications board.
  • Staying educated regarding new laws, International Convention regulations and policy.
  • Counseling vessel inspectors on professional development and the methods to achieve unit and USCG training goals.
  • Overseeing the supervision and provides the overall direction to marine inspectors for inspections of US freight tanks, passenger, oceanographic and other vessels throughout Sector LA/LB’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Creating plans for implementation of new requirements for the maritime industry and USCG policy.
  • Maintaining a continuing and effective liaison with domestic vessel owners and operators, shipyards and other maritime organizations, federal agencies, and industries directly concerned with the operation and utilization of marine industry resources.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a Secret clearance.
  • The position requires a valid state driver’s license.
