Job Description:
The General Track Supervisor will report to the Director of Track Maintenance of Way (MoW). Assists the Director of Track in overseeing large production and maintenance projects, serves as a resource for properly handling incidents, injuries and Train Accident Prevention (TAP) investigations. Also acts as relief Track Supervisor across the assigned territory. Trains and develops MOW managers to ensure standardized work processes and procedures to provide a safe, efficient and productive work environment. Executes the strategy for all personal safety, track safety and derailment prevention across assigned territory. Identifies and directs changes to drive productivity and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
- Oversees large capital and Operating Expense (OE) projects. Assists during derailments in regards to remedial repair and cause finding.
- Serves as a relief Track Supervisor as needed for an average of 6-8 Track Supervisors across assigned territory. Ensures Track Supervisors execute the strategy for personal and track safety. Provides and assists in coordinating training for craftsmen. Is usually the senior, most knowledgeable Track Supervisor on a directors territory.
- Participate in field observations, and coach local management on effective execution of safety practices and work processes. Provide and assist in coordinating training and testing.
Job Requirements:
- Budget development
- Knowledge of Association of American Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory standards.
- Ability to present to various audiences up to the Executive level and government and regulatory authorities
- Knowledge of rail labor agreements (BMWE, Sub-contracting, etc)
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Engineering computer applications
- Railroad Industry knowledge
- Knowledge of Track maintenance and construction and engineering principles
- Knowledge of accident investigations
Qualification & Experience:
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience in Supervisory experience in Maintenance of Way Railroad Operations
- Bachelor’s Degree/4-year Degree
- 7 or more years of experience in Engineering Operations
- 5 or more years of experience in Engineering Operations
- Associates Degree/2-year Degree
