CSX Railroad Jobs – Communications Maintainer

Job Description:

Install, maintain, replace and repair electrical and electronic communications equipment. ***Equipment restrictions mandate that an incumbent must not exceed the 300 lb equipment capacity limits (including 15 lbs of required tools) to safely perform the job duties

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive and record inventory delivery
• Install, maintain, replace, and check communication equipment including, but not limited to, cables, computers, printers, monitors, radios, telephones, modems, wireless components, security cameras, batteries, connectors, various parts and testing equipment
• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
• Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
• Transport tools and equipment to jobsite by truck
• Use trenching equipment to bury equipment and cables in ground
• Cut, splice, and pull cable on ground, poles, and towers
• Install wiring in offices and field locations
• Retrieve parts from inventory to install and maintain equipment

Job Requirements:

• You must currently possess a FCC license or be able to obtain one within 90 days of your start date
• Fully vaccinated for Covid by start date or have received an approved medical or religious accommodation
• Basic Math
• You must currently possess a CDL or be able to obtain one within 90 days of your start date
• Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications)
• Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)

Qualification & Experience:

• Two years of experience in communications related field
• Two years of experience operating heavy equipment
• 21 years of age or older
• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Two year technical degree or equivalent experience in network management
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with Airbrake Endorsement
