Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in power system engineering and analysis, corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance standards, and project management experience. Under supervision, this position performs a variety of electrical engineering design work related to the planning, design, construction, and operation of facilities within a large municipal water treatment and distribution utility. They will also possess the ability to learn and develop new areas of expertise as required by the tasks assigned to them.
Due to the specialization of work done by the section, the incumbent should have a thorough knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, practices, and methods as applied to the design, construction, installation and testing of power distribution including medium and low-voltage systems, motor control, process control, telemetry, automation, and electronically-based systems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Management – Plan and develop project scope, schedule, and budget for complex water electrical engineering projects; prepare contract bid documents; coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams; direct, monitor, and control project activities and ensure compliance with scope, goals, schedules, and budgets.
• Design – Research and develop electrical design criteria, project scope and cost, design drawings and specifications for systems and equipment including substations, power distribution systems, water treatment plants, pumping stations, and office facilities. Prepare and review electrical power system analysis including load flow, transient motor starting, short circuit, protective relays, and arc flash.

Job Requirements:

• Four years of professional electrical engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree).
