Job Description:

Administers, develops, delivers, and supports information technology (IT) systems and services for remote monitoring and control NAS systems. The paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; e.g., data storage, software applications, and networking. Information technology refers to systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance, or reception of information. Information technology includes computers, network components, peripheral equipment, software, firmware, services, and related sources.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a key point of contact for both internal and external audiences. May communicate the overall results of a study to FAA management, the aviation and aerospace industries, other transportation segments, and other external parties.
  • Performs assignments that may include shared responsibility for project/program management. Assignments typically require solutions be derived by interpreting and extrapolating from situations faced in the past. Provides recommendations to improve procedures.
  • Incumbent uses experience with programming languages such as: Java, JavaScript, Java Server Faces (JSPs), HTML, jQuery – Data tables, jQuery – UI, CSS, Bootstrap, SQL, Oracle PL/SQL programming, stored Procedures, triggers, Linux Shell Scripting, Server Virtualization, Oracle VM Server, Oracle OBIEE / Oracle Analytics, Data Warehousing / ETL, SQL Lite, Apache HTTPD, Subversion.
  • Provides NAS systems Field Support processing Records of Assistance (ROAs) for assigned Systems.
  • Represents FAA as a senior technical point of contact on projects, programs, and other work activities. Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval of FAA environmental protection programs.
  • Applies knowledge with Environmental Remote Monitoring System (ERMS), Maintenance Data Terminal (MDT); Remote Monitor and Control (RMC), or NAS Asynchronous (ASYNC) systems’ software applications.
  • Provides update to NASE standard operating procedures for second-level engineering (SLE) functions including field support, modification/documentation, new system acquisitions support, and technical standards.
  • Develops software while supporting proficiency in C++ programming, Java programming, Opto-22 programming; and utilizes AUTOCAD and Visio software applications to support drawing, schematics, and modification changes. Knowledge of Remote Monitoring Logging System (RMLS) to resolve complex networking and software issues.
  • Provides guidance to lower-level staff on how to solve difficult analytical problems. Provides policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally.
  • Applies knowledge with application tools/resources such as: NetBeans, Maven, Payara App Server, SCM Source Code, SCM Admin, BIRT, GIT, Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Database Appliance, Linux OS (Red Hat and Oracle Enterprise Linux), TOAD, SQL Developer Code editors such as Note Pad++ and Text Pad, File transfer utilities such as FileZilla and Win SCP, OBIEE / Oracle Analytics DV and Admin.
