Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection, San Francisco Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support to the region’s fair lending examination program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Researches topics related to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit opportunity Act, Fair Housing Act and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act and reports the results of research in the form of statistical and other types of reports.
  • Consults with Field Supervisors, Review Examiners, Field Office Lending Subject Matter Experts, Examiners-in-charge and Consumer Affairs Specialists on fair lending examination matters during examinations and complaint investigations.
  • Consults and meets with the Washington Office and other FLEX Specialists to obtain examination and policy guidance, share effective procedural practices, share information, plan and implement training, resolve fair lending issues, coordinate intra-divisional communications, develop fair lending divisional goals/action plans and maintaining consistent regional application of fair lending examination requirements.
  • Directs, participates in and reviews examinations of banks with complex fair lending issues nationwide requiring specialized expertise in interviewing, demographic and loan data analysis and comparative loan review.
  • Mentors, guides and trains field office fair lending SMEs, Review Examiners and field examiners on fair lending practices including regulations, policies and examination techniques. Similarly, provides guidance to the banking industry on fair lending issues.
