Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Finance, Accounting and Tax Policy Staff of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the mission of the Staff is to formulate and develop accounting and tax policy for the Corporation in both its corporate and receivership capacities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring compliance of various quality control practices and procedures used within the tax function and informs management when corrective procedures and necessary follow-up are required.
  • Determine the federal and state payroll tax deposits associated with the miscellaneous wage payments to employees and former employees.
  • Remain continuously abreast of relevant pronouncements issued within the profession and other changes with tax implications made by the U.S. Treasury, the IRS, and the Corporation.
  • Maintain working relationships with management, other governmental agencies, state and local government officials, and the professional community conducive to sound tax practices and procedures.
  • Make timely deposits of the federal and state payroll tax liabilities associated with miscellaneous wage payments made by the FDIC to employees and former employees.
  • Assist in performing analysis and making recommendations for systems development and/or modifications to meet tax accounting and reporting needs for the Corporation in its capacity as corporate or receiver and as needed to fulfill responsibilities for complying with federal and state payroll reporting requirement as it relates to miscellaneous wage payments made by the FDIC.
  • Assist in the research of tax issues including, but not limited to, those related to miscellaneous wage payments made by the FDIC to employees and former employees.
  • Keep management advised at all times regarding the progress being made, any unusual situations affecting others within the function, future deadlines, priorities and estimated completion dates.
  • Calculate Federal and State payroll taxes for miscellaneous wage payments made by the FDIC employees and former employees.
