Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution, Risk Assessment Branch, of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. This position is assigned to a large or complex bank and is responsible for various supervisory and examination processes. Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and analyzes risks related to large and complex financial institutions (LCFIs), which include insured banks, bank holding companies, and other systemically important nonbank financial institutions with national or international operations.
  • Assists CISR in analyzing and reviewing sound recovery and resolution plans and strategies.
  • Performs complex financial analyses, including continuous on-site monitoring of the rate and circumstances in which the financial condition of an institution could deteriorate, and assess remediation triggers relative to resolution plans.
  • Engages with bank senior management and report highly complex supervisory matters to FDIC senior executives and other regulatory agencies.
  • Stays abreast of current developments in the economy, the financial sector, and the banking industry to improve effectiveness in supporting recommended supervisory strategies.
  • Analyzes financial condition through backup supervisory authority, on complex insured depository institutions and assesses risks to financial condition, as it pertains to deposit insurance pricing risk and resolution strategies.
  • Contributes written comments summarizing findings of targeted examination reviews, and provide recommendations for corrective action when warranted.
  • Prepares materials for management discussions, and draft supervisory conclusion memos with well supported examination commentary.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Specialized experience is defined as experience using risk management information systems that identify, measure, and analyze risk levels across financial institutions. Risk levels consist of at least TWO of the following: lending, trading, counterparty risk, foreign exposures, liquidity risk, earnings performance, capital adequacy, or operational risk. For the CG-14: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience using risk management information systems that identify, measure, and analyze risk levels across financial institutions. Risk level experience consists of at least THREE or more of the following: lending, trading, counterparty risk, foreign exposures, liquidity risk, earnings performance, capital adequacy, or operational risk.
