Job Description:

We are seeking seasoned professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of sensors, ECUs, models and software. This position is focused on the overall software technical program leadership for the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) ECU, which contains the Ford Driver Assistance Technologies features, and supporting functional software. The Software Project Engineer candidate will collate all Performance Processor program activities, provide technical and program leadership to other Performance Processor software leaders, and bridge technical and program communication and decisions with program external stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong systems and software development technical leadership competence in order to lead the resolution of technical challenges and to “glue” the program together for successful timely software deliveries.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Ford’s internal research teams to bring ideas from proof-of-concept into production
  • Apply sophisticated software engineering techniques to optimize C++ code to minimize use of system resources
  • Support real-world testing of innovative ADAS features by flashing and debugging your code in preproduction and prototype vehicles.
  • Use object-oriented design techniques, the C++ Standard Template Library, design patterns, and other higher-level features of C++ to build robust and reliable embedded software
  • Design and develop embedded C++ software for Ford’s next-generation ADAS systems, including software which supports automated parking, hands-free driving, trailering features and other autonomy level 1-3 technology
  • Coordinate efforts between multi-functional activities (e.g. D&R, Vehicle Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Service, Suppliers, etc.) to ensure architectural compatibility between occupant and mechanical targets and designs

Qualification & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience with POSIX-based embedded applications
  • 5+ years of experience in software/firmware development using C/C++
  • Experience developing software which meets functional safety requirements
  • 5+ years of experience designing and testing embedded systems for high performance, high reliability computing applications
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with embedded RTOS(s)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar field of study
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar field of study
  • Experience with code optimization
  • 7+ years of experience with embedded software design and development for automotive, industrial, or aerospace/military applications with proven success in a fast-paced, multi-functional engineering team environment
