Job Description:
As a Technical Artist, you will be working on enhancing and optimizing the designs and assets for Ford’s next generation Infotainment system by collaborating with other designers and developers to bring leading-edge interactivity and visualizations to the vehicle cockpit. Together we will elevate the digital experience by harnessing the best of video game, mobile, and cinematic paradigms
Job Responsibilities:
- Advise on techniques, tools, art pipelines, and processes while participating in system design, documentation, implementation, and testing to deliver a best-in-class infotainment system
- Be an active participant in an agile product development environment, including stand up meetings, regular sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives
- Bridge the gap between pure design vision and the developmental technical constraints of running on embedded hardware, fulfilling some of the duties of each as required: help ensure the design intent and technical constraints are both respected
- Work on proof of concepts and implementation for next generation digital cockpit and infotainment systems’ graphical user-interfaces look-and-feel, functionality, and performance
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to optimize environments, models, and assets for performance in resource constrained systems
- Experience with general workflows, procedural generation, and automating common game engine tasks with Blueprint, Lua, Python, Perl, or other scripting languages
- Experience in Autodesk Maya, Blender, or similar
- Experience with a game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity
- Ability to implement object/camera animations, stage elements and events in multiple environments
- 5 years of software development doing professional game, entertainment, and/or animation/visual effects work, including:
- Bachelor’s degree digital media, animation, game development, software engineering, computer science, or a related field of study (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required)
- Ability to model, rig, bake, unwrap/texture, and animate
- Solid understanding of shaders, lighting, particle systems, aliasing, post-processes, sequencer, and material setup/editing
