Job Description:

In this critical role, you will help ensure and improve the overall safety of our manufacturing processes. You will consult and advise on the full scope of technical and non-technical safety issues. This will include both local and national safety regulations. You will be responsible for coordinating the implementation and continuous improvement of all of our safety programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate plant’s Safety Process Review Board meetings
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations
  • Conduct audits, assessments and risk evaluations
  • Collaborate with plant medical and security personnel
  • Lead all aspects of the emergency response plan, annual drills, and team member training
  • Liaise with statutory authorities, local municipalities, OSHA and OHS representatives
  • Coordinate health and safety training and orientation
  • Take immediate and appropriate action when “imminent risks of serious injury” are identified
  • Communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, significant incidents and management directives to internal and external partners
  • Provide corporate and internal safety reporting

Qualification & Experience:

  • Knowledge of state and national OHSA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to make concrete decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • One or more years of occupational safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • One or more years of experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ASP/CSP certification
  • Master’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene and safety or related field
  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors.
