Job Description:
Ford ION Park Quality team is seeking a highly motivated experienced candidates for Battery Cell Raw Materials Supply Chain Engineer professional to join the STA/quality team. The team is composed of Technical specialists, Managers and Quality Engineers who lead different areas of the battery manufacturing. Job Responsibilities:
- Develop internal technical expertise down to tier 4+ (mines, ex. Nickel/Lithium) up thru tier 2 cathode processing
- Strategize lithium ion battery active material sourcing. Analyze and manage lithium ion battery supply chain.
- Review and assess evolving next generation materials and processing development.
- Construct and analyze detailed raw materials cost model from mine ore to commodity metals.
- Engage in battery raw materials selection and evaluation of mining sources and perform due diligent and supplier technical/quality audit. Support supplier development to meet Ford objectives.
- Engage in chemical and purification analyses, and quality control of battery raw materials.
- Oversee and coordinate the development projects with suppliers team to ensure the technical progress and overall risk is aligned with the sourcing objectives.
- Analyze and review battery raw materials from mine ore processing/refining, to precursor synthesis and production.
- Identify and assess potential suppliers and sources of materials. Develop sourcing strategies by evaluating and analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps.
- Apply data analysis, technical and business intelligence to forecast and project materials supply and cost.
Qualification & Experience:
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- 3+ years experience with Lithium Ion Battery Materials or related metals experience from raw material ore, metal refining and processes for battery raw materials
- Bachelors of Science degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, Mining, or related field
- Strong analytical background with demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate.
- Master’s Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering, Mining, Materials Engineering or related field
- 3+ years project experience in supply value chain, or Site STA/Quality
- Ability to multi-task with cross-functional teams
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- 10+ years hands-on experience desired. Extraction Metallurgical/Mineral Processing Engineering skills a plus.
