Ford Hiring – Safety Engineer

Job Description:

In this key position, you will Consult and advise in technical and non-technical safety topics, including local and national safety regulations You will also:

Job Responsibilities:

• Take immediate and appropriate action when an “imminent risk of serious injury” has been identified
• Participate in the plant’s Emergency Response Plan Process, annual drills, and Emergency Response Team meetings and training
• Conduct appropriate audits and assessments as required
• Facilitate plant’s Safety Process Review Board Meetings
• Lead and/or participate in incident investigations as required
• Effectively communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, significant incidents and management directives to internal and external partners
• Coordinate implementation and continuous improvement in company safety programs
• Directly responsible for corporate and internal safety reporting
• Consult and advise in technical and non-technical safety topics, including local and national safety regulations
• Provide oversight for health and safety training and orientation, and ensure all safety trainers are qualified in the subject in which they are training

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience working with the UAW preferred
• One or more years of experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Three or more years of safety experience in the field of occupational safety in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to work in a team setting and be able to direct a team when necessary
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
• 3+ years of safety experience in the field of occupational safety in a manufacturing environment
• MS Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Safety or related
• ASP / CSP certification preferred
• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrate effective decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
