Job Description:
In this key position, you will Consult and advise in technical and non-technical safety topics, including local and national safety regulations You will also:
Job Responsibilities:
- Take immediate and appropriate action when an “imminent risk of serious injury” has been identified
- Participate in the plant’s Emergency Response Plan Process, annual drills, and Emergency Response Team meetings and training
- Conduct appropriate audits and assessments as required
- Facilitate plant’s Safety Process Review Board Meetings
- Lead and/or participate in incident investigations as required
- Effectively communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, significant incidents and management directives to internal and external partners
- Coordinate implementation and continuous improvement in company safety programs
- Directly responsible for corporate and internal safety reporting
- Consult and advise in technical and non-technical safety topics, including local and national safety regulations
- Provide oversight for health and safety training and orientation, and ensure all safety trainers are qualified in the subject in which they are training
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience working with the UAW preferred
- One or more years of experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Three or more years of safety experience in the field of occupational safety in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to work in a team setting and be able to direct a team when necessary
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
- 3+ years of safety experience in the field of occupational safety in a manufacturing environment
- MS Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Safety or related
- ASP / CSP certification preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrate effective decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
