Job Description:
GM’s Global Propulsion System Manufacturing Engineering team is looking for experienced controls and automation engineers to help lead GM toward an all-electric future. Our team is responsible for the process controls development and execution of manufacturing systems that support electric drive unit, battery assembly, and battery cell projects that will produce EV products that will power the automobiles of the future. GPS ME is responsible for supporting various manufacturing sites such as Lake Orion, Lansing, Detroit’s Factory Zero, Spring Hill, TN, Toledo, OH, Saint Catharines, Ontario, and additional sites that are still to be determined. At times, travel will be required to one or all of these locations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain working contacts with vendors, GM IT, other internal engineering disciplines and management at plant and headquarters
- Procure/launch new and major programs for controls engineering
- Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes
- Support & actively interact with manufacturing operations group
- Lead approval controls drawings, build reviews, and conducts controls run-offs at OEM site
- Support the development of ME error proofing plans
- Participate in safety g-Risk activities with cross functional groups
- Stay abreast of new automation controls technology
- Support deployment of new technology to minimize risks
- Perform simultaneous engineering activities with ME and equipment supplier representatives
Job Requirements:
- Fanuc Robot programming experience
- GM Global Common Controls Architecture
- College degree with major in electrical engineering or equivalent controls engineering experience
- Experience with Rockwell Automation or Siemens PLC and HMI’s
- Technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
- 3+ years industry experience as an automation controls engineer
- Machine Vision system experience
