Job Description:

As the Director of Corporate Communications, this individual will be responsible for public relations and external communications for Comcast’s West Division including traditional and social media relations and crisis communications. This individual will develop and implement external communications plans, campaigns, and content designed to strengthen Comcast’s reputation within West Division markets among diverse audiences. The Director of Corporate Communications will have extensive public relations experience and a heightened focus on uncovering and shaping newsworthy content while leading communications strategy, planning, coordination, and measurement. This individual must be an accomplished communicator with the ability to develop strong relationships internally and externally and to collaborate with and influence people within a variety of functional areas. The Director of Corporate Communications will ensure appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives, and influence, shape and integrate strategy for functional area(s).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts strategic planning, delivery and measurement of public relations frameworks and external communications campaigns, aligned with key business objectives.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of contracted agency team(s), and other resources as needed.
  • Serves as liaison with Corporate, Region, Division on message development, media interviews, media training, and other public relations activities.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams such as marketing and creative services team to produce compelling positive content to help promote and protect the company’s reputation.
  • Develops and drives external communications and content strategies to support business growth working in partnership with Region and Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Marketing and Community Impact.
  • Promotes and shares best practices for external communications initiatives with West Division and Region partners.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director, VP and management to lead a team that develops, manages and implements the organization’s external affairs strategies.
  • Monitors and coordinates the distribution of the organization’s messages through presentations, news or trade media contacts, special events, public speaking, or other means to reach defined audiences and meet specific program objectives.
  • Identifies opportunities to help Regions attain business goals and develops tools to support them.
  • Leads and supports communications initiatives around diversity and DE&I by identifying and leveraging cultural brand moments to build awareness.

Qualification & Experience:

  • An established understanding of traditional and digital media.
  • Adept at handling multiple projects and adapting to evolving priorities.
  • Fluent in Spanish/Bilingual
  • Strong creative writing and communications skills.
  • BA/BS Degree in a communications, public relations, marketing, marketing communications or related field.
  • Experience as corporate spokesperson
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Public Relations.
  • Expert knowledge in improving content and news.
  • Public company experience a plus.
  • Crisis Communications experience preferred
