Job Description:
The Senior Certification Engineer will support Mercedes-Benz AG with vehicle emission certification process for US and Canadian markets. Ensure all necessary steps have been completed to allow for Certificate of Certification approval.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow and report on any issues and changes to EPA and CARB certification matters. Evaluate and report back to Mercedes-Benz AG any issue of importance
- Follow and report regarding any modifications, improvements and changes to EPA or CARB emission capabilities, equipment and/or procedures
- Evaluate robustness of certification-ready powertrain software
- Communicate as necessary with internal and external clients to ensure clear and timely reporting
- Develop and implement documentation processes to improve AECD creation efficiency
- Coordinate, oversee and prepare Auxiliary Emission Control Device (AECD) documentation
Job Requirements:
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency with standard business software; basic knowledge of and ability to learn the function of computer databases
- Working experience in development – e.g. powertrain calibration, operating strategy, OBD, PHEV/PHEV-powertrain
- Collaborative and cooperative working behavior – even under pressure
- Fast learner with interest in working on different fields
- Understanding of emission regulations and emission certification procedures
- Working knowledge of emission and fuel economy testing/laboratory procedures
- Thorough and responsible working habits as well as being capable to adhere to timelines
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle emission control systems and onboard diagnostics
