Job Description:

This role will be responsible for oversight of MetLife’s Association and Union/Trust Business. The Director will require a strong working knowledge of the employee benefits marketplace and MetLife’s group, voluntary and worksite products. The Specialty Market Director will be responsible for executing on a business plan to achieve revenue, persistency and earnings targets. This role will work closely with MetLife’s Regional and National Account Sales, Underwriting and Operations teams. In addition, the role has responsibility for assuring we are meeting all compliance and governance responsibilities specific to this line of business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate broker meetings, finalist presentations, pre-finalist planning discussions, pre-implementation calls, training efforts, RFP positioning, and product analysis.
  • Owner and business lead for deployment of channel strategies.
  • Provides leadership direction in the sales process from qualified leads through to close including: entity vetting, Business Case/ROI development, operational assessment and negotiation, executive presentations, vendor and compensation analysis, proposal, and contract negotiation.
  • Will build and maintain strong relationships through attendance at strategic broker, prospect, industry event, and customer meetings intended to drive sales goals and foster sales growth opportunities.

  • Refines and develops the sales strategy in partnership with executive leadership and sales leaders and deploy changes to further enhance sales performance and customer experience.
  • Works with the SPM VP to prepare and deliver updates to the Executive Group and initiative steering committees.
  • Provides leadership direction in the sales process from qualified leads through to close including: entity vetting, Business Case/ROI development, operational assessment and negotiation, executive presentations, vendor and compensation analysis, proposal, and contract negotiation.
  • Serve as main sales liaison for channel stakeholder teams to include UW, Contracts, Product, Operations to ensure sales deliverables meet regulatory and legal requirements

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of product development, strategic problem-solving experience or related experience
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Life and Health License or able to acquire the license within 90 days
  • Ability to influence and negotiate without formal direct authority, consultative in approach
  • Knowledge of group products

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Expert working knowledge of the channel including best practices, compliance, and market insights that drive consumer behavior.
