Job Description:

The Manager will build and enhance relationships with key leaders and political officials at the State and Local level to ensure they understand JetBlue’s corporate goals, plans and issues of concern. He or she will engage in state, local, and international government affairs by tracking and engaging on potential changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s operations. Working closely with internal and external partners, the Manager will lead industry policy development and advocacy in non-Northeast States with a significant JetBlue presence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key leaders in States and territories with significant JetBlue presence, including Florida, Puerto Rico, and California, to further JetBlue objectives
  • Track and engage with decision makers in all state and local policy issues that affect JetBlue’s business
  • Work collaboratively with relevant trade associations and other industry officials (consistent with all applicable antitrust rules) on public policy objectives
  • Represent JetBlue with government and industry leaders in public and private forums
  • Advocate for and persuasively communicate JetBlue’s views on various issues to government and officials
  • Track and engage on airport-related policy issues, including proposed changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s current or future operations
  • As needed, participate with broader Government Affairs team in Washington outreach
  • Work with partners inside and outside JetBlue to support strategic projects across our network
  • Represent JetBlue at airline and airport industry association events, at community meetings in Focus Cities, and as needed in other BlueCities
  • As a member of the Government Affairs team, partners on projects and communicates issues to stakeholders both within and outside the airline
  • Oversee any state and local government affairs consultants working on behalf of JetBlue.
  • Works collaboratively with other company leaders where state, city, or other governmental organization intersect with their goals/projects

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years’ work experience in an airline, airport or government environment
  • Ability to multi-task, working in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Previous experience on the staff of a legislator and/or in Government Affairs
  • Previous Airport Affairs and/or Government Affairs responsibility
  • Leadership and advocacy skills and excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills
  • Ability to operate flexibility to meet evolving organization priorities, and operate in diverse cultures and environments
  • An ability to operate comfortably and lead JetBlue’s priorities through uncertainty and ambiguity
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of a committed, integrated team
  • Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently and excel in a high performance culture
  • Must be very articulate and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to travel (50%)
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
