Job Description:
Joining the Secret Service, Office of Training, James J. Rowley Training Center will allow you to serve as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Control Tactics) by provide training to criminal investigators and law enforcement officers within the USSS, as well as externally; and to instill the technical and analytical knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for proficiency in the field of law enforcement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establishing, and maintaining liaison contact with industry, educational, and professional experts in the control and defensive tactics to assess and evaluate training methodology; and participating in ad hoc committees concerned with training policies and academic processes.
- Utilizing a variety of advanced instructional methods (e.g. seminars, multi-media instructions, and demonstration) to train students in basic to advance techniques in control tactics.
- Independently design, develop, and execute planning decision making processes for course materials for instructions and practical application: lesson plans, support materials, practical exercises development, and use of training areas; and manages, coordinates, and instructs the curricula to provide basic (entry level) to advanced training techniques.
Job Requirements:
- Lift, kneel, crouch, and carry medium size packages or containers.
- Certificate in Instructor experience in Defensive Measures/Control Tactics at an accredited law enforcement agency, law enforcement academy, or equivalent military facility.
- Certificates must be current and must be submitted with the application.
- Be exposed to varying climate and environment conditions, both cold and warm weather conditions and/or exposure to high levels of noise and dangerous substances.
- Males born prior to December 31, 1959 must certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so
- Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
- Work in a classroom or office, and inside/outside training facilities.

- May be subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Perform work that involves physical exertion within a training environment, as well as operating in various weather conditions.
