The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life.
LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology. The Office of Wildlife consists of two divisions, the Wildlife Division and the Coastal and Nongame Resources Division.
This position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician 1-4 Career Progression Group position based at Pointe-aux-Chenes Wildlife Management Area (WMA) that receives direct supervision from a Technician Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing tasks associated with the daily operation of Pointe-aux-Chenes, Lake Boeuf, Salvador, Timken and Pass-a-Loutre WMAs and Queen Bess Refuge. Such tasks may include maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds, WMA management and enhancements, data collection, public/user assistance, etc. These WMAs and refuge are highly dynamic coastal environments that provide habitat for a large diversity and abundance of resident and migratory wildlife. These areas are located in Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Charles, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes and consists of habitats ranging from swamp to brackish habitats. Overnight travel for multiple days at remote areas and throughout Louisiana will be required. Working in the field, out of boats, at night and in inclement weather will also be required.
