The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is responsible for protecting the unprotected — children, elderly, and people with disabilities — from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Job Responsibilities:

  • Tracks, coordinates and maintains control systems for various types of inquiries and administrative assignments made by the regional director.
  • Coordinates and schedules meetings, conferences and/or seminars.
  • Prepares, types and distributes various forms of correspondences, reports, forms, and documents from oral, written and/or dictated materials.
  • Develops, coordinates and maintains filing and record keeping systems.
  • Handles inquiries and complaint calls, responds to questions, takes messages, and provides referral information to clients.
  • Assists in planning special meetings and conferences.
  • Assists in compiling and analyzing data and incorporating findings in special reports.
  • Provides training, guidance and supervision to administrative support staff.
  • Receives, reviews, prioritizes in-coming mail and handles incoming regional assignments as well as processing outgoing mail.
  • Serves as a liaison between regional director and all levels of regional and state office staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations including supervising youth under the supervision of DFPS staff in child watch locations.
  • Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts.
  • Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Skill in working in an office supporting several staff members.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to implement administrative procedures, to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
