Tesla Internships – Firmware Integration Engineer

Job Description:

Tesla’s Systems Integration Team is seeking an Integration Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring firmware support for new features and new hardware are designed, implemented, and tested to achieve Tesla’s standards for safety and customer experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with validation teams to design tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system. Identify areas of concern, and work with teams to rectify any bugs.
  • Lead and manage integration of initial prototype systems including bring-up, debug, and engineering test.
  • Develop overall validation strategy for these features and work with validation teams to ensure automated test coverage is implemented for future firmware releases.
  • Dig into data and source code to identify and debug issues at the system level and propose robust solutions.
  • Integrate and debug features at the system level and release the changes to production.
  • Utilize critical analysis of potential failure modes and effects to influence these requirements.
  • Lead and own firmware validation, new features definition, firmware regression, and firmware releases.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems.
  • Power electronics design/test background.
  • Experience with C and Python.
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex systems involving networked microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices.
  • Previous systems integration experience, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
  • Experience with energy storage and charging products.
  • Must be comfortable with hands-on lab work (including the use of scopes/logic analyzers, CAN tools, soldering irons, etc as needed to support integration).
  • BS or higher in engineering related field or proof of exceptional skills in related fields, with practical engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in software integration and system hardware.
