Job Description:

This position serves on a team responsible for carrying out performance-based budgeting actions related to budget formulation, budget presentation, performance management, management studies, and reporting for these areas.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides Program and Budget Guidance to Deputy areas for their analysis and preparation of programs and budgets.
• Establishes and enforces a variety of controls to maintain or improve the quality of data used to represent the agency.
• Develops detailed strategy and background documentation for presenting budgets to Department, OMB, and Congressional committees.
• The incumbent is responsible for an assigned segment of the Forest Service budget.
• Coordinates with Deputy Areas in recommending program enhancements, improvements and solutions to problems as required.
• Develops, implements, reviews, and maintains policies and procedures across the agency business base, and determines the impact of new or revised policies and procedures on agency functional areas.
• Validates budget inputs against performance goals and metrics, reconciles differences, and prepares justifications for increases and decreases.
• Collect and analyze data from various sources internal to the agency to test and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of budget plans.
• Duties are listed at the full performance GS-13 grade level.

Job Requirements:

• Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
• Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
