Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop a suite of management development programmes to ensure that we have great succession to support the business growth plans
  • Design training profiles for all roles identifying both mandatory and non-essential training and development which support the needs of the business
  • Accountable for the development and delivery of workshops and/ or learning interventions for all areas of the business
  • Create excitement and build the profile of the Talent Development function within WH Smith so that our teams can see clear progression opportunities to support their own growth
  • Carry out a full review of the current training offer to ensure that it is fit for purpose, including induction and e-learning packages and make recommendations to improve
  • Maintain effective working relationships and proactively partner with key stakeholders across operations and the support teams to deliver bespoke learning/ team interventions that will improve performance

Job Requirements:

  • Expertise in the creation and execution of Talent & Development programmes in retail or service focused environments
  • Excellent oral, written communication and influencing skills, and the ability to present to large audiences
  • Achieved related training delivery qualifications and has the experience of delivering learning and development in a variety of styles
  • Experience of working in retail companies/tech or digital hiring/international markets
  • Level 5 CIPD in Learning & Development, or HR with a specialist in Learning & Development
  • Excellent stakeholder management with a high touch, collaborative, and communicative approach and the confidence to challenge thinking
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the rest of the HR team, with a flexible approach to support on any areas which require focus
